Writing Highlights

"The written word is the strongest source of power in the universe."
Gary Halbert
Every week, the girls are given a prompt to write about. We'd love to show off their skills to you below!

Write about your field trip on Tuesday. Include highlights of the trip, a summary of events, and what you learned.

"It was March 12, Tuesday when we went on a day trip to the Botanical garden at Laguna. While we were on our bus, I love how we eat and sing to different songs we really admire a lot. When we arrived at our destination, we took some photos and bought some souvenirs within the garden. When we went in the garden, I can feel the cold breeze in it and fresh air. Then we went down a small river and played with the water. The fact that we went down without our teacher/tour guide was kind of thrilling too. Again, we took some photos and videos. We laughed about silly jokes and listened to the story which our tour guide tells us about that place. The place there was so amazing and unique. I am so thankful that I witnessed God’s wonderful creations. What a beautiful place to spend with my classmates, or should I say, my friends. It kind of makes me sad too when I think this types of memories which I will really miss someday. Still, I’d like to treasure each moment I’m in because sometimes, you’d want to go back to the past, not to change your life, but to feel things like this twice."

Write about your dream vacation. Try to include 3 or more of the following words: marvel, leisure, immense, retrieve, rural, optimistic, abundant, encounter, convenient, diversity, prominent.

"If I would have a chance to go somewhere, I would rather go to a place where I can find rest and peace. I don’t know what particular place, but I know that there are many places like that. Like here somewhere in the Philippines, we have 7564 islands or less/more. Like Boracay, a tourist spot place. I encountered a lot of places where peace is within them. It would be convenient if I will stay here in the Philippines cause it is really my dream, to go around places in the Philippines. I would like to take pictures of rural places and spread the beauty of it because it is really marvelous; for it has fresh air and the beauty of nature is prominent. If I would have a leisure time to go with someone, I think I would go with my family, I mean, I will really go with them, because this past few days we are encountering a lot of problems and I am really praying to our God of Abundance for giving us some rest with him and peace in our mind. In that case, I can retrieve how the happiness of my family, for they deserve it. Going into immense diverse places would really make us optimistic to our natural world, and it lessens our worries, making us jolly."

What have you learned throughout these lessons? What do you hope to learn?

"I learned a lot of new lessons. I remember my favorite lesson is PEEL. Learning a lot of synonyms, prepositions, commas, capitalization, idiomatic expressions, and vocabulary. I love all of them because during our periodical I used all of them and I am sure and confident that I will get a high score. Looking forward to more lessons. I also want to learn more about simple speech and that’s all. I am happy that our lessons are advance and it helps me a lot during the test. Grateful because of our two teachers."

Collective Story-Telling Activity: each student contributes one sentence to the development of a narrative

"10 students went on a field trip. They are going to a camping site. During the bonfire at night, they set up a challenge. They were going to play hide-and-seek. They heard a creaky noise; they heard non-human boys. They ran into a cave and noticed that one of them was missing. They went to look for her until they found a monster in the cave. They didn’t realize that the monster was their missing friend. At first, they didn’t recognize the monster until their friend came running back to the missing campsite. When one of them started running, the others followed. While they ran they saw something bright. It was starlight. The star started talking and they freaked out. The star said “what you want is what you get”, so they begin to think about their missing friend. And then one goes them said. “Bring back our friend.” And the star said, “what you want is what you get”. The star granted the wish and they lived happily ever after."

Write about a female figure in your life that inspires you.

"The woman who inspires me a lot is my mother… I study harder for her. She is the person that I can share any of my problems with… When I’m crying, she’s there to comfort me. I think my life would be miserable without my mom."

Shanice

Write about a female figure in your life that inspires you.

I could say my mom serves as my inspiration and motivation in life…She never left my side when I needed her the most. She wipes my tears each time I cry and she never stops to encourage me to fight and give another try…Yes, there’s no better hero or a buddy that you can lean on like a mom and there’s no better mom than mine. So that’s my mom, my inspiration and my hero.

Write a script containing words from the word bank with a partner: coincidently, consequence, jolt, riveting, zealous.

Jariette: "Grace, were you feeling zealous about the test a while ago?"

Grace: "Yes! I felt jolted too about the topic of the test."

Jariette: "Really? The test was actually riveting for me. I hope we won’t feel downcast or disappointed with the consequence."

Grace: "I saw the results coincidently after our test."

Write a creative piece.

"Once upon a time, there was a girl who was writing near the ocean. She writes something that interests the fishes, coral reefs, and the sea wave. She did not know that the water level is high and the wave is big, so she got wet."

Decipher the meaning of this photograph.

"I conclude that the message of this picture is: even if you are weak in the eyes of others, you know yourself that you can be stronger and braver than them."

Ayesha

Decipher the meaning of this photograph.

"I think the message of the image is that the girl beside the tree is alone. I think that the tree is her best friend and she cares about it because it is the only thing that she has to care for. She is watering the tree, and the color of the young girl and the tree is black. For me, black represents loneliness. The connection between the illustration is that I am sometimes lonely too."
