What is PERIOD?
PERIOD is a global youth-powered non-profit that strives to end period poverty and stigma through the pillars of advocacy, education, and service.

Founded in 2014, PERIOD has supported upwards of 1 million periods by distributing products, and has amassed over 700 chapters around the world. Through community outreaches, educational workshops, donation drives and various other fundraisers, PERIOD has changed thousands of lives around the world.
In order to further our mission of female empowerment, HERstory launched an official chapter of PERIOD at Benigno Aquino High School.
Using PERIOD’s resources, we will have one workshop devoted to sexual health per cycle, alongside a feminine product distribution.

Sexual Health E-Book Chapter
To promote PERIOD's pillar of education, we will be including a chapter devoted to sexual health and menstrual hygiene in our HERstory female empowerment E-Book (launching in August 2020).
Many adolescent females in the Philippines tend to stray away from discussing subjects pertaining to sexual health as a result of heavy cultural stigmatization. In order to fight this deep-seated cultural taboo, we have crafted the chapter to teach the girls that sexual health and menstrual hygiene are not meant to be shameful.

PERIOD in the Classroom
For each HERstory cycle, one lesson will be dedicated to menstrual and sexual health. Our team has designed a special lesson plan with various interactive components to educate the girls about sexual health literacy. Topics include avoiding teenage pregnancy, dealing with menstruation, and sexually-transmitted diseases.
By teaching this lesson in an all-female learning environment, the girls will feel much more comfortable engaging in discourse on the said ideas.
